A game of classic Tute on Barajamos: the cards on the cloth, the four seats and the score.

How to start a game

  1. Press “Play Tute now”. Barajamos opens with classic Tute chosen. If you prefer another mode, go straight to Tute cabrón or to bidding Tute.
  2. Choose how to play. “Play with friends” opens a room with a six-character code and a link to share. “Find a game” seats you at a public table. “Play against bots” deals straight away.
  3. Send the link. Whoever opens it joins your table without installing anything. If someone is missing, the host can seat bots in the empty chairs.
  4. When everyone is in, deal. The host starts the game and everyone gets their cards: ten in classic Tute, ten or twelve in cabrón and twelve in bidding Tute.

What Tute on Barajamos offers

Three modes
Classic, four players in pairs. Cabrón, three or four players each on their own. Bidding Tute, three players, with an auction and one against two. When you choose Tute, a selector lets you pick.
With your friends, through a link
Create the room, share the link or the code and play, each from home. Nobody has to sign up or download anything.
Public table
“Find a game” puts you together with other people who want to play. If it takes a while to fill up, bots can complete the table.
Against bots, at your own pace
Three levels: Tavern Apprentice, Felt Fox and Salon Legend. The game is saved in your browser and carries on where you left it when you reload.
Declarations without slips
The table declares the twenty, the forty and the Tute for you as soon as you are entitled to them. There is no pause to declare that gives your hand away, and no declaration lost through carelessness.
The counting, done
The table only lets you play the cards that are allowed. At the end of each hand it shows everyone’s tricks, points, declarations and ten for the last trick.
Chips, ranking and five languages
Every game earns chips. With a Google account, your progress is saved on all your devices. The table speaks Spanish, Valencian, Portuguese, English and French.

The rules in a minute

The 40-card Spanish deck, tricks and declarations. The essentials:

  • From high to low: ace, three, king, knight, jack, seven, six, five, four and two. The ace is worth 11 points, the three 10, the king 4, the knight 3 and the jack 2. Whoever wins the last trick adds ten more.
  • You must follow the suit led and, as long as nobody has trumped, beat the highest card if you can. If you do not have that suit, you must trump.
  • Declarations: the king and knight of the same suit are worth 20, and 40 if they are trumps: the forty.
  • Classic: two pairs, ten cards each, and the dealer’s last card sets trumps. The pair with more points wins the hand and the first to win four hands wins the game.
  • Cabrón: three or four players and no trumps at the start. The hand is lost by whoever ends with no points, whoever goes over 100 or whoever ends up in the middle. Each lost hand is a letter of CABRÓN.
  • Bidding: three players. The highest bidder chooses trumps and plays alone against the other two. The first to 500 wins.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes. You play free in your browser, and chips are earned by playing.
Do I need to sign up?
No. You can play without an account. If you sign in with Google, your progress is saved on all your devices.
Can I play on my own?
Yes, against bots of three levels, without waiting for anyone, in all three modes.
How many players do you need?
It depends on the mode: four in classic Tute, three or four in cabrón and three in bidding Tute. If someone is missing in your room, the host can seat bots in the empty chairs.
What is the forty?
The king and knight of the trump suit. Whoever holds them declares them when they win a trick or, in classic Tute, when their partner does, and scores 40 points; in another suit it is the twenty. In cabrón they count when the king and knight fall in the same trick. On Barajamos the table declares for you.
What is calling Tute?
Holding all four kings or all four knights. In classic Tute it is called when your pair wins a trick, and the hand is yours at once. There is no Tute in cabrón or bidding Tute.
How do cabrón and bidding Tute differ?
In cabrón everyone plays for themselves and the aim is not to lose the hand. In bidding Tute there is an auction: whoever promises most chooses trumps and plays alone against the other two to make their bid.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. You play in your phone’s browser, upright or sideways, and also on tablets and computers.
